Vale of Glamorgan Coastal Ultra Marathon 32 miles - The Steiner Marathon Man

My Story
Vale of Glamorgan Coastal Ultra Marathon 32 miles
I'm Richard and I'm running in the Vale of Glamorgan Coastal Ultra Marathon 32, on 6th April 2019 and am highlighting and raising funds for a new purpose built sports hall, at the Steiner Academy, in Hereford.
We are a state funded school, but rely heavily on funding from parents and the Friends of Steiner Academy Hereford charity.
Steiner schools face exceptional challenges in general, as reduced class sizes, specialised subjects, and the natural materials used in the classroom – all things which make them unique and nurture their children – but every year the school faces a budgetary deficit.
As a state funded school, the Academy is not permitted to require compulsory contributions. Their very busy fundraising efforts generally raise a decent amount, but the rest needs to come from voluntary family contributions. If every family contributed at least £30 per month per pupil, that would bridge the gap. But the school understands that this amount is simply not possible for all families; although any amount of regular giving helps support the children.
They want to provide excellent facilities and additional opportunities to our children which cannot be afforded from their EFA funding. Many parents choose to send their children to this fantastic school on the basis of what is offered and they can only operate on this basis when they receive additional income.
A sports hall would be a great investment for the school, our children and the area in general. It's been talked about for several years, but now a plan is coming together to make this a reality.
If you are interested in what the school has to offer your child(ren), please consider coming along to an open day - details on their website: http://www.steineracademyhereford.eu/
